All-Weather Gathering Checklist: Cheetham Close Stone Circle

1. Weather-Ready Essentials

  • Layer up: Wind, rain, or shine, it’s moorland plateau. Combine breathable base layers, an insulating mid-layer, and waterproof outerwear.

  • Footwear: Sturdy, waterproof hiking boots with good grip—expect squelchy peat and rough grassland

  • Ground cover: Foldable sit‑pads or waterproof blankets for sitting or laying out herbal offerings.

  • Headgear: Wide-brim hats (sun), snug caps (wind), buff or scarf (cold).

2. Ceremonial Materials & Offerings

  • Natural, biodegradable offerings: Wildflowers, local grasses, seeds—respecting the sacred site and ecology.

  • Small clay or stone bowls: For holding salt, herbs, or ritual water.

  • Energy tools: Crystals, wooden wands, feathers—whatever aligns with your energy therapy practice.

  • Notebook & pen: For reflections, impressions, or nature‑inspired prompts.

3. Site & Setting Preps

  • Map or GPS waypoint: We will meet as above and walk up together. For info (Start at the A666, walk the footpath to the hill. Look for the trig point (OS reference SD716158) as your guide.  

  • Visual markers: Stones are low, broken, and hidden in grass.

  • Horizon awareness: Position yourselves to appreciate the sweeping horseshoe view—Peel Tower, Winter Hill, Smithills, and beyond.

4. Practical Comfort & Safety

  • Refreshments: Hot herbal teas in insulated flasks, honey sticks, energy‑boosting snacks.

  • First‑aid & safety: Small kit, blister plasters, insect repellent.

  • Waste management: Bring waste bags. Leave no trace—but leave your offerings only if they’re natural and biodegradable.

  • Group coordination: A small anchor person keeps time, gathers everyone, and ensures unity of experience.
